About Hopeless Lingerie
Who are Hopeless Lingerie?
Since first opening in 2008, Hopeless has emerged as a unique voice in the world of lingerie, providing a directional and considered offering of dark, modern and romantic styles. Hopeless is built on the belief that lingerie emparts confidence: a means of self-expression, a way of feeling more powerful and more like yourself. With a focus on crafting lingerie designed for the wearer, rather than for an externalised gaze, Hopeless operates with a sustainably-minded, made-to-order production model.
Hopeless takes a very different approach to design and production. At present, all Hopeless pieces are made in-house, one by one and to order, to avoid material waste and overproduction. Our collections foreground thoughtful design, directional cuts, adjustable straps and stretch fabrics to ensure each piece is as comfortable as possible. For many of our styles, we offer customised sizing to accommodate all bodies and genders.
Our pieces are intended to be purchased thoughtfully, worn often, and treasured for years to come. By manufacturing in this way, Hopeless keeps its environmental impact to a minimum. We make a concerted effort to research new products and opportunities to improve our efforts and lower our environmental impacts. Sisters Gabrielle and Dominique Adamidis are the creative minds behind the brand:
“Hopeless had its beginnings on Gaby’s dining room table, in a tiny rental apartment in Hawthorn. In those early days, we were both working multiple day jobs. We spent nights and weekends studying fashion (Gaby) and marketing (Domi), and building Hopeless from the ground up. Each piece of lingerie was produced on a single domestic sewing machine given to us by our grandmother.
We began to develop a profile and wonderful community of supporters. We invested in our first industrial sewing machine. Fashion editors and stylists in Australia and overseas took notice of Hopeless, and we started receiving requests to showcase our pieces in magazines and on celebrities. With each new collection, we refined our vision and expanded our creative range. Our community continued to grow and we soon welcomed our first staff members to the team.
By 2015, in need of more space, we graduated from Gaby’s table to Domi’s living room. By then, the two of us were able to leave our day jobs and focus on Hopeless full-time. As of late 2017, we operate out of what was once a two bedroom home in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Designing, sampling, manufacturing, posting, and all the other parts involved in the day-to-day running of Hopeless happens from this one space: we have old bedrooms for offices, a living room turned sewing room, dining room turned cutting room, and a kitchen turned showroom. We keep things small and in-house, to ensure every member of our team is cared for and treated fairly.
Since the very beginning, Hopeless has been inspired by the balance of dark and light, by the past filtered through a modern lens, by creativity in all its forms. We’re inspired by art history, architecture, pulp imagery and old movies; by powerful women throughout history and by our daughters (recently welcomed into our families!), Chloe and Charlotte.”

Do you make loungewear and sleepwear?
Yes, we do offer both loungewear and sleepwear collections! Our pieces are designed with comfort and style in mind, featuring soft fabrics, directional cuts, and versatile designs that can be worn for both relaxation and rest. Can your lingerie be worn as underwear?
Yes, our lingerie can definitely be worn as underwear! While many of our pieces are designed to make a bold statement, they are also crafted with comfort and fit in mind, making them perfect for everyday wear. Whether you’re looking for something simple and sleek or a little more daring, our lingerie is designed to offer both style and support as your go-to undergarments.
Ordering
Why do orders take so long?
Hopeless Lingerie is a small independent business, all lingerie is made in-house and to order by our small, dedicated team of seamstresses in Melbourne.
Each piece is made to order by our team, ensuring every piece is created with love and attention to detail. We take care in the production of every single order, and take pride in creating each individual garment just for the customer who ordered it.
While a made-to-order model does mean you may have to wait a couple of weeks to receive your lingerie, your choice to buy with us ensures that together we are supporting a more ethical and sustainable industry.
Can I rush an order to skip the queue?
We can sometimes accommodate rush orders for special occasions, depending on our order queue. If you would like something for a certain date please feel welcome to reach out and we will do our best to make it happen.
As well as made to order items we also have a Ready to Ship section here, along with digital Gift Cards which will be immediately delivered to your inbox.
Can I get an update on how far away my order is?
Yes we are always happy to provide order updates, we know it can be a long wait!
Please send an email with your order number, and we can let you know how far along the production stage it is, and when it will be likely to ship.

I’m worried my order won’t fit
We know it can be difficult ordering clothes online, and we are always happy to help make sure you get the best possible fit. If you have checked our Size Guide, read the sizing advice for each item, and still aren’t sure, email info@hopelesslingerie.com.au to help you decide. Make sure to include all your measurements and also let us know which styles you are interested in purchasing.
I’m not sure what styles would suit my body shape, can you offer personalised advice?
Style and fit are highly personal and we are always happy to offer suggestions depending on your concerns. We are proud to offer a made to measure service so we can make any of our styles to fit any body, and also customise fabrics and shapes to make your lingerie dreams come true.
Do you sell plus-size lingerie?
Yes, Hopeless Lingerie is committed to inclusivity and offers a range of sizes to ensure everyone can find something that fits their body, that will make them feel amazing. We don't have a specific "plus-size" category, because all styles are available in all sizes. What does slow fashion mean?
Slow fashion is a movement and approach to clothing and fashion that emphasises quality, sustainability, and mindfulness over mass production and consumption. It contrasts with fast fashion, which prioritises speed and low costs, often at the expense of ethical practices and environmental health.

Where do you source your fabrics?
At Hopeless Lingerie our fabrics are sourced both worldwide and locally. We use high quality Italian mesh across many of our collections, for its breathability and longevity. Deadstock stretch lace from Korea and Europe, locally made Modal Jersey, along with local deadstock designer fabrics, vintage fabrics, and even repurposed textile waste.
Hopeless is committed to doing what we can to reduce our impact on the environment – this is an evolving process that we refine or adapt as new studies, products or technology become available.
Many of our limited-edition ranges use dead-stock fabrics, which may otherwise go to landfill.
All our fabrics scraps are sent for recycling, with some ending up as stuffing for beds at local animal shelters.

As all items are handmade in house by our small team, you can expect your Hopeless items to be shipped between two to four weeks after placing your order. Please note that this wait can sometimes be longer depending on factors such as time of year and volume of orders.
Our Office & Studio
Having our own studio allows us to minimise shipping, maintain sustainability best practices and keep our environmental impact low.
Every Hopeless order is wrapped in recyclable tissue paper and sealed with a sticker made from FSC-certified paper and printed with natural soy-based ink. We post using home-compostable mailing bags made from renewable plant materials.
All our fabrics scraps are sent for recycling, with some ending up as stuffing for beds at local animal shelters.
Our office recycles all paper and plastic products, including separating soft plastics, and we have a composting system for our scraps from the lunch-room and our homes.

Lenzing Modal Fabric
We’re proud to use Lenzing Modal across our collections, a fibre produced by the innovative, sustainability focused Austrian company Lenzing. The fabric is made from Beechwood trees, which require no planting or irrigation as they propagate themselves. Working closely with the Forest Stewardship Foundation (FSC®) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™), they can ensure that all their wood is sustainably sourced.
Unlike other similar fabrics, the processing of the fibres is where Lenzing excels, they have developed a closed loop environmental process that is not commercially available to others, these non toxic technologies allow them to recover 95% of the production materials to minimise emissions and conserve resources. In fact, Lenzing is set to be the first Carbon Neutral Fibre producer in the world. You can learn more about Lenzing and their focus on sustainability here.
Our Lenzing Modal fabric is knitted and dyed locally in Melbourne, by MTK, a small business that has been creating unique and high quality fabrics for over 85 years. Our Modal Fabric is combined with a small amount of elastane to give the fabric stretch that allows it to retain its shape after many wears.

Do you have mens lingerie?
Hopeless Lingerie primarily focuses on creating lingerie for women, but we believe in inclusivity and design with all genders in mind. While we don’t have a dedicated men’s lingerie collection, many of our bold, edgy designs can be styled and worn by anyone, regardless of gender. We offer custom sizing and a wide range of styles, so feel free to reach out if you’re looking for something specific! We’re happy to help you find the perfect piece.

We love seeing how our lingerie makes you feel, and we’re thrilled when customers share their photos and moments with us! However, please keep in mind that any content not suitable for public sharing should not be sent to us privately. Returns & Refunds
Returns Policy
Due to the nature of lingerie being worn so close to the body Hopeless Lingerie is unable to accept returns. This is due to health and hygiene regulations, as we’re sure you understand.
We do not use hygiene labels to avoid excess plastic packaging.
We do not offer exchanges if you purchase the wrong size for this reason, so please make sure you refer to our size guide carefully. We are always happy to help with sizing advice so just email us info@hopelesslingerie.com.au with any queries.
In the rare event of a garment arriving to you in faulty condition please contact info@hopelesslingerie.com.au within 2 weeks of receiving the item.

Shipping
Do you ship worldwide?
Hopeless Lingerie ships worldwide. All items are wrapped and every parcel will include care instructions and collectable postcards.
How long do orders take to dispatch?
As all items are lovingly handmade to order they will take a little time to arrive. Orders are generally sewn and shipped between 1-4 weeks after an order is placed, but this wait can sometimes be longer depending on how many are ahead of you in the queue.
We know this wait might be a little longer than you are used to but please remember that you are purchasing something that is being handmade just for you, by a member of the very talented Hopeless sewing team.
Which Shipping Carriers do you use?
All orders are shipped with Australia Post, and we offer Standard and Express options.
Can I track my order?
Once your order has been sewn, wrapped, and posted we will send you an email with your tracking number to let you know it’s on the way and how long you should expect before it arrives.
